The new first-person shooter survival horror game STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be developed and published by the Ukrainian game developer GSC Game World. It was initially planned for release in 2012, following the release of Call of Pripyat, before it was ultimately cancelled the same year it was scheduled to release.

It offers award-winning graphics and unparalleled immersion in the game world thanks to Unreal Engine 5 and motion capture technologies. In the advanced artificial intelligence system, the stalker will be required to utilize a tactical strategy against numerous enemies in order to stay competitive and engaged even against the most hardcore opponents. 2. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

A role-playing first-person shooter video game, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, is developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games as a spin-off in the Borderlands series and successor to Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. The fantasy setting of the backdrop is reminiscent of a tabletop RPG, and you can play alone or locally with three other friends.

In the game, players can select from six different characters, and for the first time in this series, players can mix and match skills for their avatars and wield melee weapons. Avatars can upgrade their stats through the use of “hero points”. The overworld system in the game was influenced by Japanese role-playing games such as the Final Fantasy series. Five maps in the game are only accessible via the overworld system.

Among the new enhancements in the game is the addition of a 5th weapon slot for melee weapons, so players can fight up close. Grenades have also been replaced with a spell slot on a cooldown. Last but not least, the new outfit includes two ring slots and an amulet slot to boost the character’s power.

3. Atomic Heart

A new action role-playing game, Atomic Heart, is scheduled for release on Microsoft Windows and consoles in Q4 of 2022. It is being developed by Russian studio Mundfish, which also developed the VR title, Soviet Lunapark.

Atomic Heart is set in an alternate 1955 Soviet Union where a mentally ill KGB agent is dispatched to investigate a manufacturing facility that has gone silent, only to discover that strange experiments are being performed by machines that have gone rogue. The game is a shoot-and-swing game where weapons can be made from improvised elements taken from robots and household appliances. Weapons can also be upgraded via a mechanized system in the game, known as ‘cassettes.’ Quick-time events are also included, along with rare ammo and sneaking options.

4. Redfall

Arkane Studios created the open-world first-person shooter Redfall, which boasts both single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes. Within the game, players choose between four playable characters – each with unique backgrounds and abilities – to battle vampires and human enemies.

A town in Massachusetts named Redfall serves as the setting of the game. The town of Redfall was invaded by a legion of vampires after a failed scientific experiment. Players must select between four unique survivors to survive as they fight both vampires and humans.

You’ll fight through cult outposts and explosive supernatural spaces in a once-bustling downtown, a haunted forest, a decimated seaside boardwalk, and beyond. Single players can venture into darkness at their own pace or team up with up to three friends to take on the vampire legion’s brood of maniacal followers. The whole team can try different hero load-outs and combine their strengths to defeat the maniacal followers of the vampire legion.

5. Shadow Warrior 3

Developed by Flying Wild Hog, Shadow Warrior 3 introduced the offbeat first-person shooter series to a whole new level with faster-paced gunplay, razor-sharp melee fights, and an expansive free-running system on March 1, 2022. The game puts you in control of Lo Wang, the main character of the series. Lo Wang can choose from a wide array of firearms to defeat enemies.

The player is given new weapons and gadgets as they progress in the game, which will all be unlocked and available when they reach the midpoint of the campaign. As the design team developed the game’s universe, they drew inspiration from both Japanese and Chinese cultures. The humour in the game also matured, as the team said it was important to give Lo Wang more background to modernise him as a video game character.

6. PowerSlave Exhumed

Developed by Nightdive Studios, PowerSlave Exhumed is a first-person shooter released on February 10, 2022. It is set in the late 20th century in and around the ancient Egyptian city of Karnak, which has been taken over by some unknown forces. A special crack team of hardened soldiers is sent to investigate the source of the trouble.

Throughout the game, the player must battle hordes of extraterrestrial insectoid creatures known as the Kilmaat, as well as their minions, including mummies, Anubis soldiers, scorpions, and evil spirits. The remastered version, Powerslave EX, functions more like a combination of a first-person shooter and Metroidvania, as the players gain access to new weapons and artefacts as they progress through the game.

7. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction

A spin-off of Ubisoft Montreal’s Rainbow Six franchise, Rainbow Six Extraction features the Siege characters in an online multiplayer tactical shooter with up to three players. To complete objectives in Extraction, operators must infiltrate alien-infested locations, collect samples, retrieve material from computers, and gather intel.

Each play session, known as an “incursion”, consists of three interrelated sub-maps, with twelve objectives assigned randomly on each sub-map. As in Siege, players can send reconnaissance drones to scout an area, reinforce doors and windows, and shoot through walls. To succeed, they must work together and coordinate their efforts.

8. Boundary

A multiplayer tactical space-based shooter game, Boundary pits players against each other in fierce zero gravity firefights and low-gravity operations on orbiting space stations against other Astroperators (AO). Game developer Surgical Scalpels envisioned the game as taking place in space, ditching the familiar shooter gameplay for a zero-gravity environment where players engage opponents from both sides.

Astroperators are each endowed with their own unique abilities and passive abilities, as well as different basic capabilities such as armor or health. These facets give them unique roles in the harsh space battlefield. Originally scheduled for release in 2021, Boundary will now be released later in 2022 on PC and consoles, with a trailer already released last year.

9. Scorn

Developed by Serbian developer Ebb Software,  Scorn is a first-person survival horror game based on a biopunk setting for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S. Currently, the game offers two primary weapons: a pistol and a three-barreled rifle that fires spikes. The player begins with a pistol that deals mild damage to in-game enemies. You control the skinless humanoid on a fictional nightmarish alien planet filled with odd creatures and living structures made of steel, flesh, and bone. 

As the player explores different interconnected regions in a non-linear way, they will search for answers that will explain more about the world of the game. The game was originally scheduled for release in autumn 2021 but was delayed until 2022; it may release later this year.

10. Dying Light 2: Stay Human

It takes place in a zombie-apocalyptic-themed open world and stars a new main character named Aiden Caldwell (voiced by Jonah Scott), who has a wide range of parkour skills.

Players explore a massive open world set in Europe called Villedor, with a map that is four times bigger than the original game. Each region has its own landmarks and locations.  The game allows you to do actions such as climbing ledges, slipping, and leaping off of edges in order to quickly navigate the city. There are over 3000 parkour animations, meaning you can run freestyle wherever you are. As with its predecessor, the game also features cooperative multiplayer for four players.
